Confirmation Preparation
Youth
completing the 8th grade year and entering the 9th
grade have received letters inviting them to participate in the
preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation which begins in
October. The initial step in registering is to participate in
an interview with one of the Directors of Faith Formation.
Please call the Faith Formation Office, 689-9101 to schedule your
student’s interview. Adults interested in preparing for the
sacrament may also call the Formation Office to receive a
registration form.
Faith Formation/Religious Education
REGISTRATION …
Registration for returning and new students for Faith Formation
(Religious Education) will be
held in the Social Hall after Masses on
August 23 and August 29/30. Returning students should
bring their re-registration forms with them; they were sent from
the Faith Formation office to family addresses in June. New
students will also be registered at this time; please bring the
child’s baptismal certificate with you at the time of
registration. Adults interested in registering for Catholic Bible
Study or Rite of Christian Initiation will also be able to receive
information on those programs.
Registration can also be completed by stopping by the Faith
Formation Office, weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday
through Thursday or Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Religious
Education is offered to parish students on Wednesday evenings 6:30
– 7:45 pm and on Sunday mornings 8:30 am to 10:00 am. Education
is offered for Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Religious education in the Spanish Language is also offered on
Sundays, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon. A Special Education program
for students with learning disabilities is offered on Wednesday
evenings. Fees for youth education programs are $75 for one
child, $50 for each additional child in the family. Payment
options are available.
Youth over
the age of seven who are not yet baptized may be prepared for the
sacraments through faith formation programs. Our staff looks
forward to assisting families who are seeking baptism for their
child.
Remember, if your child is not attending a Catholic School, he/she
should be registered in Faith Formation (Religious Education)
classes from Grade 1 through Grade 8. Kindergarten classes are
also available.
Student
Stewardship:
Remind your children to use
their stewardship envelopes at Mass. If your child needs
another box, please stop by the Faith Formation Office. The
students have been asked to write on the envelope a good deed
that they did during the week, and if they wish – they may also
share a portion of their allowance, etc. Students: remember
to use your envelopes!
J
With the number of students we have in Faith Formation and
Nativity School, we should have nearly 2,000 student envelopes
in the collection each week. Just think of all the good work
you are doing! Thank you!

We’re looking for a few good
parents!
Our Faith
Formation team could not operate without the cooperation of a
good many parents. Specifically, we are in need of the
following:
Baptismal team
(husband and wife teams) to help prepare new parents for the
Sacrament of Baptism. You would facilitate three or four
classes per year.
Generations of Faith Team
– Parents (and Catechists) willing to help plan, serve, great
and clean up at our Generations of Faith Events. (See calendar
for dates).
Special Needs Catechists
– Parents experienced in Special Needs instruction needed to
join a dedicated group of catechists.
Confirmation Catechists
– Six sessions and one retreat – begins in early November
If you are
interested, or know of someone who is, please contact us.
Remember to care for Creation by recycling!
Pope John Paul II, in his
1990 World Day of Peace message,
brought to the forefront the
ecological crisis in the document,
The Ecological Crisis: A
Common Responsibility –
Peace with God the Creator, Peace with
All Creation.
Faithful Citizenship:
How do I decide how to vote?

The United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops sponsors the link below that helps everyone
learn more about what factors should be considered when choosing
our candidates in the upcoming political elections and how to
decide on ballot referendums. Many voters, young and old would
benefit by reviewing this link before making their decisions.
There are links on the website for families, young adults/all
Catholics. There are resources in Spanish. Please take
seriously your responsibility to vote: become informed now
about the teachings of the Church on life and social justice
issues.
